A beautiful white smile is the most important thing when it comes to achieving a nice, neat look. Gorgeous snow-white teeth add confidence and make us smile more often. Unfortunately, everyday dental care is not always enough to get a snow-white smile.

Teeth whitening methods offered at K2 Dental:
- whitening in the dental office using:
– a dedicated biostimulating diode laser;
– Beyond lamps;
- teeth whitening at home, using individually made overlays.
How does professional teeth whitening with a laser or a lamp work?
Teeth whitening in the dental office is the fastest method that allows you to achieve full effect during a single appointment that lasts about an hour.
During this appointment, the patient’s teeth are covered with a special whitening gel, the gums and necks of the teeth are also protected, then the entirety is illuminated with a Beyond lamp or a laser, which accelerates the effect of the whitening agent. This method is completely safe for tooth enamel and allows you to achieve excellent results very quickly.
Laser teeth whitening
Teeth whitening at the dental office using a dedicated diode biostimulating laser. Laser teeth whitening is a one-step procedure and lasts 30-45 minutes. This method involves the activation of the whitening agent through laser radiation. Special laser beams are selected during the teeth treatment.
At K2Dental we have the best diode lasers available on the market: Litemedics 980 nm and Solaze 810 nm. Thanks to them, we are able to safely and effectively perform a procedure to improve the colour of your teeth. The treatment is quick, painless and safe for tooth enamel. Simultaneously, these lasers largely eliminate post-operative tooth sensitivity.
Teeth whitening with a lamp
Teeth whitening at the dental office using a special Beyond lamp is also a one-stage procedure and lasts from 45 minutes to an hour on average. The whitening agent used during the procedure is a mixture of bleaching substances and substances that reduce hypersensitivity. During a given medical procedure, the components of the agent are activated under the influence of appropriate power and wavelength of light emitted by a special length of light. Our patients’ opinions show that this is an extremely effective procedure not only in terms of improving the colour, but also reducing hypersensitivity. Moreover, teeth whitening with the use of a lamp is not harmful to fillings, crowns or bridges.

The course and effects of the procedure
During the first appointment, the state of a patient’s teeth is determined. We explain what the whitening process will involve. If the patient has caries, it is advised not to perform the whitening procedure before treatment (fillings).
Then a hygienization treatment is carried out, which involves removing dental tartar and plaque. After a few days you may arrange an appointment to whiten your teeth.
The treatment begins with the patient putting on protective goggles, which shield eyes from laser or lamp light. Subsequently, the so-called barriers are put on the gums and the neck of the teeth to protect them from irritation with the substance. The next step is the application of the gel and hardening of it – this procedure is carried out three times. The effect of the treatment lasts on average about 2 years.
Teeth whitening at home with the use of overlays
Teeth whitening can also be done at home, using dedicated individually made overlays. The doctor takes impressions and on their basis prepares overlays adapted to the patient’s occlusion. The patient gets a dedicated gel of a closely matched concentration and is able to independently apply this method at home. The advantage of this method is the possibility of independent use at home, while the disadvantage is the necessity of patience because the execution of this whitening method lasts an average of 10-14 days, and during this time the patient must wear an overlay for about 4 hours a day or at night. The whitening effects are visible after just 7 days.
Preparation for whitening treatment
Patients intending to use the teeth whitening service are advised to make an appointment to carry out hygienization procedures beforehand, which involves the removal of dental plaque and tartar. Properly prepared for the treatment teeth allow for much more visible whitening effects.
Recommendations after treatment
After whitening procedure it is recommended to exercise the so-called “white diet” because teeth are more absorbent after whitening. Therefore, it is best to avoid colouring foods and liquids, such as beets, berries, wine, strong tea. Drinks are best consumed through a straw.
To maintain the effect of snow-white teeth for as long as possible, take care of oral hygiene and regularly remove dental tartar.
Please be aware that not all teeth are suitable for whitening, some get whitened more, others less.
Moreover, fillings and prosthetic restorations, i.e. crowns, implants do not change their colour during the whitening process. So, especially in the front area, after changing the colour of the teeth, they often need to be replaced to perfectly match the new tooth colour.
